Looking for a new way to teach your little one? Or maybe a gift for a toddler that won’t just end up in a bin full of toys. Learning made fun books are absolutely the best way to introduce learning into a toddlers routine. If teaching begins early enough, children can start to recognize and verbalize letters, numbers and words before they turn 2!
This collection of learning made fun books have become my (and my little one’s) favorite go-to for educational review. We’ve been reading these book since he was about one year old and I really started noticing understanding and cognitive development almost immediately.
Words by Roger Priddy
This fun book has windows with slides inside to reveal word associations. Examples include different ways a banana can look, matching a fork with a spoon. All the images are are of everyday objects that little ones will easily recognize.
Look and Learn Colors by Lizzy Doyle
What a wonderful book to learn colors! Six tabs include three primary colors and three secondary colors. Each color gets a full two pages of images for children to name and associate it with. With easy to identify illustrations, little ones will learn colors as well as animals, plants and food. I bought this book at Sam’s Club and haven’t been able to find it online, however, this book Search & Find Colors: Learn Colors (Clever Things To Learn) is very similar and a great substitute.
Little Owls 123 by Divya Srinivasan
We love the Little Owl books at my house! This counting book is full of animal friends who help little owl count to ten. The illustrations are wonderful and full of colors. Children can count the animals and learn the numeric symbols at the same time. A great book to encourage counting!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. & John Archambault
A classic dating back to my own childhood, this book is awesome for introducing the alphabet in a fun way. Although it may be little more wordy than other toddler books, it has a catchy sing-song type story full of excitement. I find that when I read it fast and add sound effects, my little one laughs along and can name the letters as they try and climb up the coconut tree!
First 100 Words by Roger Priddy
My little one absolutely loves this word book! Full of everyday, easy to recognize pictures, this book covers everything from animals to bath time. The images are actual photos of the object or person, so after reading the book your little one will be able to easily find and name the same things in the real world.
Give your little one a head start by choosing learning made fun books and watch them shine!

April 1, 2019 at 5:44 pmGreat post! It’s wonderful that you are increasing awareness. Books teach kids so many things! I was a speech language pathologist for 30 years and I always stressed to parents how important it is to read to their young children! Thanks for sharing. Great book choices too!
