Looking for a quick and easy dinner idea? This Beef Lo Mein is just what doctor ordered! So easy and ready in 30 minutes or less! You’ll be glad you put the take out menus away when the whole family gobbles up this favorite.
Another great thing about this recipe is the versatility. I used thinly sliced top sirloin steak, but you can use any cut of steak or even a different meat all together!
This recipe does take more ingredients than I normally like to use in a meal, but if you make a lot of Asian cuisine then you will probably have most of the items already.
First, slice your steak into strips, about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. If you bought stir fry ready beef, then you can skip this step. Mix together the cornstarch and 1 Tbsp of soy sauce in a small bowl. Pour the mixture into a Ziploc bag and add the beef. Press all the air out of the bag and close it. Let the steak marinate for about 10 minutes. This gives the meat a little more flavor, however, if you are in a rush you can skip the marinading.
While you are waiting on the marinade, you can make the lo mein sauce. Mix together the hoisen sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger and pepper in a small bowl.
At the same time you can begin cooking your lo mein noodles. Follow the instructions on the package, and do not over cook. Lo mein noodles only have to boil for about 5-7 minutes, so make sure you are paying attention!
When the steak is done marinading, place the pieces in a wok or skillet with the vegetable oil and cook for about 7 minutes. You may need to cook your steak a little longer depending on the thickness and your preference.
If your looking for more awesome Asian cuisine try this recipe…
[Beef and Broccoli]
Add the snow peas, carrots, broccoli and garlic to the wok. Stir fry for another 7 minutes or until the broccoli is not longer hard.
Take the wok off the burner and add the noodles and lo mein sauce to your steak and veggies. Mix well.
And you’re done! A delicious 30 minutes Beef Lo Mein dinner, ready for you to enjoy! I hope your family loves it as much as mine does!
